Cardiac arrest recovery patient starts unique cufflink business.
After suffering from a heart attack , a Ramsgrate man chose to find a distinctive interest that has now developed into a very special cufflinks enterprise - Cottage Cufflinks.
Until 18 months ago, Jon Brooks had made a living by driving boats and also possessed his very own boat business. However , everything changed when his physical condition unexpectedly worsened and left him with a heart attack and cardiovascular failure.
“It’s been a tough time, a lot of limitations and hurdles,” he explained.
But after that something happened when he met with a rehabilitation counsellor.
“As part of the therapy I was seeing a qualified professional cardiovascular counsellor,” he stated. “The lady recommended me to try a leisure activity to help to take my mind off of all.
"I started manufacturing Cufflinks as I wear them but could never locate varieties to match my likes and character. I order lego models, Scrabble letters, pin badges, dice, buttons, then make them into the Cufflinks.”
Three weeks ago, right after hearing positive responses from companions, he chose to open up his home business and offer customised cufflinks.
In this short time, he has already received purchases from Spain and Gibraltar and gathered over 200 likes on Facebook. He now intends to be present at a few fairs and may even present some of his work at the new Petticoat Lane Emporium in Ramsgate.
